About The Næss
The Næss is a place for people who sense that another way of living is possible.
At its heart is a simple question:
What does it mean to live well as part of the living world?
The Næss began with a feeling that many of the problems we face, including ecological breakdown, loneliness, fragmentation and the loss of meaning, are not separate from one another. They belong to ways of living that distance us from the Earth, from each other and sometimes from ourselves.
The Næss offers a place to explore these connections. Yoga, contemplative practice, ecology, food, creativity, community and social change are not treated as separate interests. Each offers a different way into the same underlying questions: how do we live, what do we value, and how might we participate more fully in the life around us?
Courses, retreats, workshops and gatherings can take many forms. Some may turn inward, through movement, meditation, reflection or the study of spiritual traditions. Others may be practical, involving land, food, community or new responses to the social and ecological challenges of our time.
What connects them is not a fixed teaching or a prescribed way of life. The Næss is a place to ask questions, encounter different ideas and put things into practice. Sometimes that might begin with something as simple as a yoga posture, a shared meal, a conversation or time spent outside.
The Næss is not intended as an escape from the world. It is a place where people can meet it differently and perhaps leave with a clearer sense of how they want to live and take part.
